The wide power easement that runs through our development is maintained by Duke Power.
It is, however, the private property of the various owners who have property along its boundaries.
No bike riding, motorcycle riding, ATV riding, snowmobile riding or other activity is allowed except by the agreement of each individual property owner involved.
Such property should be treated as if it was someone's front yard.
To the west of the power easement, Chapel Hill telephone numbers apply.
To the east of the easement, Durham numbers apply. No solution to the division is in sight.
You can however, for a small charge be listed in both directories to avoid confusion for friends who may call.
Newcomers on the Durham side should be well warned that much confusion results for delivery services when you list a Durham phone number and tell them that you live in Chapel Hill.
Most commonly, this problem arises when you give your address and phone number to the delivery person.
In an attempt to locate you, your number is called from a Chapel Hill phone and a recording is heard that says "the number cannot be completed as dialed."
After that there is a long wait while the delivery person tries to find your home.
Be sure to tell them that you have a Chapel Hill address with a Durham number.
Refuse collection is provided by a number of vendors in our community.
Check the yellow pages or, better yet, contact your neighbor for a possible vendor.
Since our area is served by many vendors, the Association cannot make a recommendation.
You might want to select a vendor with ready made carts to wheel to the curb and are difficult to upset by animals.
Recyling is available at the Orange County Landfill, and curbside recycling occurs every 2 weeks.
From time to time, serious planning and zoning issues affect our community.
Depending upon the issue, ad hoc sections are established to deal with the specific issues.
The committee is always in need of interested parties to attend county or state planning meetings to monitor activities.
It is clear that Chapel Hill development is headed our way and any way that we can involve ourselves in decision making, the better.
The Stoneridge/Sedgefield community is in the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City School District with school bus service throughout our community.
If you drop your children at the bus stops and wait in your car until they are picked up, please be sure to find a parking place off your neighbors grass if possible.
This can be very disruptive, particularly on wet days.
